It has no impact on the game console's CPU, which means all this extra audio won't slow your game down.

Dolby Pro Logic IIz expands on Pro Logic IIx with the addition of creating front height channels above the front left and right speakers, expanding a 5.1 or 7.1 system into 7.1 Height or 9.1. It identifies spatial cues in low-level, uncorrelated information, such as ambience and effects like rain or wind, and directs it to the front height speakers.The channels it adds are matrixed, not discrete.Dolby Surround is the consumer version of the original Dolby multichannel analog film sound format (Dolby analog and Dolby SR [Spectral Recording]). When a Dolby Surround soundtrack is produced, four channels of audio information—Left, Center, Right, and Mono surround—are matrix-encoded onto two audio tracks. These two tracks are then carried on stereo program sources such as videotapes and TV broadcasts into the home, where they can be decoded by Dolby Pro Logic® to recreate the original four-channel surround sound experience.

A result of Dolby's expertise in matrix surround processing, Dolby Pro Logic was the foundation for multichannel home theater, and was the reference decoder for creating the surround sound audio tracks in thousands of commercially available videocassettes, laser discs, DVDs, and television programs.

With the introduction of the Dolby Digital multichannel film sound format, Dolby Digital has replaced Dolby Surround as the preferred technology to deliver multichannel audio to consumers via DVD-Video, digital television, and games. However, every Dolby Digital decoder also provides a Dolby Pro Logic-compatible stereo signal on its analog outputs.

High-quality 96-kHz, 24-bit (96/24) lydgengivelse fra ordinære DVD-videooptagelser er begrænset til kun to kanaler og der er også begrænsinger på billedet. DVD-Video optaget i DTS 96/24 giver dog høj kvalitet.5.1-kanal lydgengivelse i høj kvalitet. DTS 96/24 lader en nyde bade digital udgang og video udgang fra ens DVD-afspiller.

(Digital Theatre Surround) opleves ofte som mere dynamisk og powerfuldt da det ikke er komprimeret så hårdt som Dolby digital. Vi har også på FreQuence kunne mærke en stærkere seperation imellem de enkelte kanaler på langt de fleste DTS indspildninger. Det er ligesom effekterne står mere præcist højttalerne imellem. DTS kan bestå af op til 8 kanaler, men det mest normale er 5+1. der findes dog enkelte filmtitler der er indspillet i 6+1(DTS-ES) tre front - & tre baghøjttalere + subwoofer. DTS og Dolby Digital bør altid være synligt når du vælger surround forstærker/receiver eller DVD.
