White River Burning

White River Burning

'John Verdon writes grown-up detective novels, by which I mean stories with intelligent plots, well-developed characters and crimes that have social consequences. White River Burning, featuring the author's brainy gumshoe-for-hire, Dave Gurney, checks all these boxes.' The New York Times Book ReviewTensions have been running high in White River as it approaches the one-year anniversary of a fatal shooting of a black motorist by a local police officer. The economically depressed, racially polarized city is on edge, confronted with angry demonstrations, arson, and looting. In the midst of the turmoil, a White River police officer is shot dead by an unknown sniper. As the town spirals out of control, local authorities approach Dave Gurney to conduct an independent investigation of the shooting. The situation in White River becomes truly explosive as more killings occur in what appears to be an escalating sequence of retaliations. But when Gurney questions the true nature of all this bloodshed, and zeroes in on peculiar aspects of the individual murders, his involvement is suddenly terminated. Obsessed with evidence that doesn't support the official version of events, Gurney cannot let go of the case. Despite intense opposition from the police, as well as from dangerous fanatics lurking in the shadows, he begins to uncover an astonishing structure of deceptionlearning that nothing in White River it what it seems to be.White River Burning is the most provocative and timely book yet by the author hailed by the New York Times as 'masterly'furthering the adventures of Dave Gurney, a detective reviewers have compared to Sherlock Holmes.

Burning

Burning

'A powerful book, a harrowing case study made all the more so by Madigan's skillful, clear-eyed telling of it.' -Adam Nossiter, The New York Times Book Review On the morning of June 1, 1921, a white mob numbering in the thousands marched across the railroad tracks dividing black from white in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and obliterated a black community then celebrated as one of America's most prosperous. 34 square blocks of Tulsa's Greenwood community, known then as the Negro Wall Street of America, were reduced to smoldering rubble. And now, 80 years later, the death toll of what is known as the Tulsa Race Riot is more difficult to pinpoint. Conservative estimates put the number of dead at about 100 (75% of the victims are believed to have been black), but the actual number of casualties could be triple that. The Tulsa Race Riot Commission, formed two years ago to determine exactly what happened, has recommended that restitution to the historic Greenwood Community would be good public policy and do much to repair the emotional as well as physical scars of this most terrible incident in our shared past. With chilling details, humanity, and the narrative thrust of compelling fiction, The Burning will recreate the town of Greenwood at the height of its prosperity, explore the currents of hatred, racism, and mistrust between its black residents and neighboring Tulsa's white population, narrate events leading up to and including Greenwood's annihilation, and document the subsequent silence that surrounded the tragedy.

Burning Daylight (1910). by

Burning Daylight (1910). by

Burning Daylight takes place in the Yukon Territory in 1893. The main character, Elam Harnish, nicknamed "Burning Daylight" was the most successful entrepreneur of the Alaskan Gold Rush. The story of the main character was partially based upon the life of Oakland entrepreneur "Borax" Smith. Bringing his fortunes to the States he is cheated out of it by a crowd of money kings, and recovers it only at the muzzle of his gun. Embarking on a new life in California, he makes another fortune by underhanded means . . . only to find his corrupt life suddenly turned around by the love of a woman.... John Griffith "Jack" London (born John Griffith Chaney, January 12, 1876 - November 22, 1916)was an American novelist, journalist, and social activist. A pioneer in the then-burgeoning world of commercial magazine fiction, he was one of the first fiction writers to obtain worldwide celebrity and a large fortune from his fiction alone, including science fiction. Some of his most famous works include The Call of the Wild and White Fang, both set in the Klondike Gold Rush, as well as the short stories "To Build a Fire," "An Odyssey of the North," and "Love of Life." He also wrote of the South Pacific in such stories as "The Pearls of Parlay" and "The Heathen," and of the San Francisco Bay area in The Sea Wolf. London was part of the radical literary group "The Crowd" in San Francisco and a passionate advocate of unionization, socialism, and the rights of workers. He wrote several powerful works dealing with these topics, such as his dystopian novel The Iron Heel, his non-fiction expos The People of the Abyss, and The War of the Classes.

My Sexual Submission to White Power

My Sexual Submission to White Power

The Diary of an Ordinary Chinese Woman's Transformation from an Obedient Asian Wife to a Masochistic Chink Slut: I'm a 29 years old, slim, petite, well-educated Chinese woman. Even though I still look very young compared to other women of my age, especially compared to white women, biologically I'm approaching the peak of my sexuality. But I'm married to a worthless Chinese husband who can't fulfill me and every day and night I fantasize of being sexually dominated by a real man, a White man-whenever I fantasize about sex, it's inevitably a White man, always, even in my dreams I dream of a dirty old White man just stripping me naked, beating me, tying me up, whipping me mercilessly with his belt, and then-use me, brutally, treat me like a dirty yellow cum dump. I can't help myself and I really wish someone could help me fulfill my unfulfilled sexual desires that are burning me alive. Call me his chink cum dump, his oriental meat urinal, rape me, torture me, beat me, humiliate me. I yearn for this kind of treatment. And for a long time I had struggled with those bad evil thoughts because they were un-feminist and un-liberal, but then I thought, if I am really equal to men, I should never be ashamed to admit those feelings, because men have no problem with expressing their sexuality so why should I? And men curse, yell, scream, and society is perfectly ok with that, but should I as a woman be held to a different standard?
